I got so irritated working behind the bar this weekend because of our “regular scheduled” DJ. This DJ started out at our venue and rocked the show. Everyone I work with would leave with a tune in their head or just shake the dudes hand because he was that awesome. But lately, it’s the same shit every fucking Friday and Saturday night and he’s killing us!!
DJ’s help me out here… do you play the same set every night you work? If so, you are probably killing the staff you play for, not to mention boring the hell out of the regular customers! I would understand if the crowd was going crazy and loving every second of his beats, but this guy was playing ALL house and techno. My place is a bar, not a damn club, what ever happened to those fun 80s and 90s songs that everyone knows?! Again, I understand some house, but two hours worth is a bit much; MIX IT UP for the LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY!! When everyone is at their peak drunkness, it’s important for the DJ to play music that people subconsciously know/remember; because clearly you’re too drunk to follow along with anything new.
Moral of the story: the music throughout the night keeps you drunks happy and dancing and keeps me hating you drunks less than usual. My attitude and your service with a smile literally depends on it.
